Consultation for the Business Enabling Environment Project

Business Enabling Environment (BEE)*

The World Bank is looking for feedback and contributions on their pre-concept note of the new Business Enabling Environment (BEE) project.

CRF members might be interested to review the proposed approach and consider the value it could bring to private sector development, economic reforms, the role of business registries to an economy and research in general.

The World Bank Group is formulating a new approach to assessing the business and investment climate in economies worldwide following the discontinuation of the Doing Business project.

You can provide your comments and feedback through a dedicated consultation page between February 8 and March 8, 2022.

Updates on the development of the new Business Enabling Environment (BEE) project will be published on https://www.worldbank.org/en/programs/business-enabling-environment as they become available.

The results from the first digital International Business Registers Survey and Report

The results from the first digital International Registers Survey and Report (launched in October 2021 in collaboration with EBRA, CRF, IACA and ASORLAC) are now available.

The digital survey is an update to the original printed Registers Report, which has been running for over 20 years.

This first digital survey looked at Business Register legal settings and Business Dynamics.  There were 85 responses from Company Registers across the world . The survey closed in November 2021 and the results were available on the new digital tool in December 2021.

The new digital format also means the results are available in a quicker timescale and in a more dynamic format, rather than in a printed report. This new approach will enable the survey will be run twice a year with a different focus each time.

The European Business Registers Association is organizing workshops in the next few months to assist in how to use the new digital tool to see the results.  It is also an opportunity to answer any questions and offer feedback on the new digital survey. Those interested in participating are invited to email Chiara at survey@ebra.be.
